Who We Are
About Us
Grand Line Garage is a mobile automotive service based in Beaufort, built on honest advice and care for our community. Brandon and the crew explain what your vehicle needs, what can wait, and which repairs are suitable for your location before the work begins.
“I run my own shop because, from experience working for other shops, I realized they all forgot about the honesty part. About the helping-the-community part. About the being-there-for-someone part. That's where I come in to make a difference. I'm not here to rob anybody, take anybody's money, or pull anything over on anyone. I'm just here to do my part — be honest, help people, be there for the community, and make sure everybody's driving safely.”
Honest Diagnostics
You get the real answer on what's wrong, what it costs, and what can wait. No upsells, no work you didn't ask for.
Careful, Thorough Repairs
We take time to diagnose the issue, explain the recommended work and check our repairs.
Craftsmanship & Patience
Some jobs take strength, some take patience, most take both. Our techs work the problem until it's genuinely right.
Teaching, Not Gatekeeping
Knowledge got passed down to us, so we pass it on — through clear explanations of repairs and practical maintenance advice.
Community First
We're part of Beaufort, not just located in it — which is why our owner co-founded a non-profit putting veterans back on the road.
Licensed & Insured
Licensed and insured. Contact us with questions about our services or insurance, and we will clarify the details before work begins.

Our Non-Profit Partner
Wheels 4 Warriors
Founded in September 2024 by Matt Welch — a Marine Corps veteran (1996–2001) — and his son Brandon Welch, owner of Grand Line Garage.
To receive donated vehicles from local citizens and organizations, inspect and recondition each one to a safe, roadworthy standard, and provide it free of charge to a veteran in need.
To grow beyond our current shop space into a dedicated local facility, and to keep expanding the network of veteran rehabilitation organizations we serve — so that no veteran rebuilding their life is held back by a lack of reliable transportation.
Every donated vehicle is inspected to confirm it can be safely reconditioned or repaired. Vehicles that aren't worth reconditioning go to a salvage yard, and every dollar from that sale funds the next project car.
Wheels 4 Warriors works with Warriors Helping Warriors, and is looking into partnering with Home Of The Brave. Veterans who complete those programs to get back into the workforce can have their organization request a vehicle on their behalf — free of charge.
The organization started out self-funded and now works alongside veteran organizations including DVSA and the Veterans United Outreach program to help cover repair costs. Donations from individuals and organizations are always welcome.

Meet the person behind the work
- What made you want to become a mechanic? My father, first and foremost. I've watched him since I was able to walk — he's always been in the car scene, selling them, working on them, building projects, flipping them. This man's whole world is cars. I followed in his footsteps because I ended up with the same passion. I want to surpass my pops; it'll make him proud to see his boy doing the things he dreamed of doing.
- What is your secret superpower in the shop?My ability to fix things honestly. I could probably get a rock to run and rev like a V8. Tinkering and fixing things just comes naturally to me — it's my superpower.
- First car or machine you ever worked on?A 1987 Merkur XR4Ti — a very rare car here in the States.
Jacob Shotwell
Jacob is the team's go-to for the tough diagnoses — a master technician who also walks customers through exactly what their vehicle needs and why.
Meet the person behind the work
- What made you want to become a mechanic?I started working on cars at 15 in my parents' driveway. It began with oil changes, eventually brakes, and got to the point where I mentored under a retired ASE master technician and went to school to know what I do today.
- Your ultimate dream car or dream project build?A supercharged J35 Z32 swap. The Z32 is my dream car, and putting a bigger and better motor in it (no shade, Nissan!) would be a dream come true.
- One sound that means “get to a shop immediately”?Any rattle or knock when starting your vehicle. Doesn't matter if it's in the morning, mid-day, during a drive or at night — stop driving and contact us to discuss a safe next step. We provide mobile service, not a vehicle drop-off location.
Nick Rodriguez
Nick brings hands-on experience in diagnostics, suspension and steering, brake service, oil changes and preventative maintenance.
Meet the person behind the work
- Most essential tool in your toolbox?Definitely the five-pound hammer, for when the stubborn parts just don't want to come out. Also great stress relief.
- A specialty job you secretly love doing?I secretly love a suspension job — all the different parts having to come out and go back together with strength, but also the patience to work through the issues.
- What made you want to become a mechanic?I found out my dad was an engine remanufacturer and mechanic, but he never got to keep building cars after getting hurt on the job when he was young. He definitely made sure to pass on as much knowledge as he could as I grew up.
Trey Harrison
Trey handles the routine service that keeps vehicles running strong — oil changes, fluid checks, and preventative maintenance done right the first time.
Meet the person behind the work
- What made you want to become a mechanic? My grandfather before me was one, and my uncle too. They were my biggest influences growing up — I wanted to be like them.
- Your ultimate dream car or dream project build?A Volkswagen Rabbit. They've always been one of my favorite cars.
- First car or machine you ever worked on?A Chevy Tahoe. That thing was a bucket of bolts and rust, but man, did I love that engine roar.
